History of Rome

Presently regarded as “the eternal city”, the rich history of Rome has dated back to the primitive periods of human civilization. The ancient locals believed that their city was established in 753BC. However, it has been refuted by modern historians who said that it was founded on 625BC. At the early days, the city was administered by foreign monarchs but only seven kings were able to rule. Not for long, the citizens themselves were able to oust them from power and they ended up being subject to their own blood.

History of Rome would then render that majority of the population insisted that there be a council dubbed as the “senate.” At that instance, the “republic” was already formed. The word itself roots from the Latin language known as “res publica” meaning “public matters.” Those that are under the aristocrats were only acting as advisers. The ones that have been feeding advices suggested that a “consul” be appointed with a term that will only last for a year. It was highly considered as a wise move because it did not pave the way for a tyranny government.

With four classes of people in the history of Rome, divisions in the society were very important for them. “Slaves” were known to be the lowest class where they were possessions of other persons. It is similar as saying that they were bought at a certain price so they really had no rights at all. “Plebians” were the third group who experienced freedom albeit, their conversations were limited. Not permitted to speak a lot, they were still had their own respective masters above them. “Equestrians” is the second where they are regarded as the “knights.” At this contemporary juncture, they are thought to be those athletes that ride on horses as they engage on sports. In retrospect, they were actually fighters who were called to be in the field when there are battles. Not only the skills in warfare were set as the measurement but riches also counted much.

“Patricians” were the highest as accounted for by the history of Rome. All the political and economic influence revolved around them. If there were officials in the state, those unmistakably belonged to their group because they were the only beings that were listened to by the others of their kind. Their reign stretched from 510BC until the next 23BC, almost about five centuries.
